Tom Hockedy will take over from Tom Hadcroft as Head of Berkhamsted Boys School in April.

Berkhamsted School is pleased to announce that Tom Hockedy will be taking over from Tom Hadcroft as Head of Berkhamsted Boys School, effective from April 2025.

Tom has been a member of the Berkhamsted community since 2013 and has held positions as Head of Department and Sixth Form Housemaster, and most recently as Deputy Head of Berkhamsted Girls. He was educated at Millfield School, Somerset, where he was also Head Boy, and completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Exeter. Tom has previously held posts at Millfield and Uppingham.

His service at Berkhamsted was put on pause while he worked at a start-up in the food and drinks sector as Operations Director, returning to the School after a successful period of expansion to resume his career as a school leader.

A dedicated advocate for education, Tom has conducted action research into learning environments, is an advanced Graydin Coach, and is also a governor at a number of schools.

"I am honoured to be entrusted to be the next Head of Berkhamsted Boys and have the opportunity to continue to build on the progress made by Tom Hadcroft in recent years,” Tom said of his appointment. “Berkhamsted has always stood out to me for its drive to truly develop remarkable people, and its focus on developing the skills and character traits which will allow pupils to thrive and flourish beyond school."

“It is clear that Berkhamsted Boys is a special place which is built around a strong sense of community and service. I am excited to build on the School’s history and for the pupils to experience the opportunities and developments which are ahead of us.”
