​Tomorrow’s Women 2021 at Burgess Hill Girls

On Thursday, 24th June, Sixth Formers at Burgess Hill Girls will host their third Tomorrow’s Women conference. 

The Tomorrow’s Women conference is unique in that it is created and organised by the students at Burgess Hill Girls. They are involved in planning every aspect of the conference, from deciding on the format, to selecting speakers and hosting the event.

This year’s conference will take place at Burgess Hill Girls on Thursday 24th June, between 6pm and 9pm. Though students at the school will attend the event in person, students from other schools and colleges are invited to attend virtually. There will be a mix of virtual and on-site speakers, who include Editor of The Sunday Times, Emma Tucker, Lawyer and Fashion Designer Abiola Ayeni, and Debra Humphris, Vice Chancellor of the University of Brighton. Also on the programme is Burgess Hill Girls alumna, Millie McQuillin, now a DeepMind Scholar at Cambridge University.

The speakers will share the up and downs of their careers to date giving attendees invaluable tips on how to fulfil their ambitions. Sixth Formers have been heavily involved in curating the conference and securing speakers and they hope that many other like-minded young women in Sussex and beyond will want to attend this free event.

Sixth Former Florence Stapley, and one of the conference organisers cannot wait: “The conference is a wonderful opportunity to hear first-hand from some influential women in a variety of fields and industries. The evening will provide a broad insight into career opportunities for girls as they look towards their future.”

Head Liz Laybourn is delighted to see the conference in its third year: “The last Tomorrow’s Women conference was held in March 2020, immediately prior to the first lockdown. We have all been through a lot since then. I am thrilled that we are able to put on a physical and virtual event as it offers many more young women the opportunity to attend and learn from an inspirational line-up of female leaders.”
