Wycombe Abbey launches new online maths quiz - open to all
Posted on 13th Mar 2024 in School News, Competition, MathsWycombe Abbey has launched its annual Easter-themed Conundrum Maths quiz; all pupils, wherever they are in the world, are encouraged to take part.
The Conundrum quiz is an online competition for pupils across all age groups. First launched to Wycombe Abbey girls in 2022, it has grown in popularity and is now available to children around the world, enriching and extending pupils’ learning of mathematics. The site was built by Monogram, the developer of the school website, and was made possible by a donation from a former parent. With this investment, it has been possible to run bigger and better competitions, providing enrichment and extension to pupils at Wycombe Abbey and to the wider community.
This Easter, the Quizmaster is Wycombe Abbey’s very own Teacher of Mathematics, Mr Oliver. He said "We are delighted to launch the latest Conundrum quiz and hope that pupils from across the world will enjoy the challenge of taking part."
Questions are themed, and Wycombe Abbey believes that 'taking part is a great way for pupils to test their mathematical skills.' Questions are accessible to pupils aged 12 years and above; however, they are designed to stretch and challenge even Sixth Form pupils. The rounds will increase in difficulty. Conundrum has been designed for children around the world to stretch their mathematical learning and have fun solving puzzles, it can be used as a resource by teachers in the classroom or children can have a go on their own in their free time.
All pupils/students are encouraged to sign up now to flex their mathematics muscles; all are welcome to have a go and there will be prizes for the winners! In order to be eligible for a prize, participants will need to provide the email address of a teacher, and competitors under 13 will need parental consent.
