ABOUT US: Broomwood Pre-Prep and Little Broomwood is the co-educational pre-prep school and pre-school class of BROOMWOOD in Wandsworth, South West London that inspires and equips children aged 3-13 to #BeYourBEST. We offer a broad, modern, and innovative curriculum designed to provide mastery of the building blocks of education, delivered in an inclusive, exciting and enjoyable way, harnessing curiosity and creating a desire to learn. All children have specialist teaching in arts, sport, music and French. Maths mastery is a speciality.
MOTTO: 'To do your best, to #BeYourBEST' exemplifies our ethos. We help each child to develop to the best of their individual ability and believe that a supportive but focused environment, without undue stress or 'hot housing', is the best way to enable them to fulfil their potential, both inside and outside the classroom.
GAMES & THE ARTS: All children take part in PE and Games for at least five periods per week and progress from learning basic skills to playing in competitive matches in the Prep Schools. Great emphasis on building confidence through art, drama, and musical performance. A multitude of clubs from Reception onwards include karate, coding, art, and cookery.
PASTORAL CARE: The school is split between two buildings a short walk from each other. Each site is small enough, and intimate enough, for all children to be well known to all staff. We have a strong pastoral team which includes learning support, a full time school nurse and a qualified school counsellor.
ADMISSIONS: Little Broomwood: Register and visit ASAP. In the September following a child's first birthday, parents are invited to express interest. Offers are then made in the order of the expressions of interest. Deposit secures place. Broomwood Pre-Prep - Reception: Automatic entrance for Little Broomwood and priority children (siblings & Dukes Education nurseries). All others should register in the September following a child's second birthday. Offers are then made in order of expression of interest. We ask parents to visit the school and to pay a deposit to secure a place. Entry at other ages: subject to current school reference and satisfactory school report. Children from the Pre-Prep progress automatically to the Prep Schools at the age of 7 providing these are the right schools for them.
HEAD TEACHER'S PHILOSOPHY: Children only have one chance to get a great education, so it's important to get it right from the start - and we do. Our focus is on creating a love of learning and to build the core skills that will enable children to succeed in the future. Our pupils love coming to school. We embrace different tools to ensure that our children are well prepared for the future: the power of the Yeti (it's ok not to be able to do something YET); the five Learning Powers of Curiosity, Communication, Creativity, Independence and Resilience. Plus, maths mastery and Thematic learning that immerses children into a subject. Above all, our focus is on the individual child and throughout their time with us they are supported, guided, stimulated, and stretched to be their BEST, before leaving us for the prep schools, brimming with confidence and ready for the next stage.
