Aims
Our aims are numerous, but very clear: to provide the best in education for every child in our care within a happy, safe, supportive Christian environment; to offer a wide variety of extracurricular pursuits to all age groups in order to promote the healthy development of the whole child; and to produce confident, self-reliant, compassionate and responsible young men and women, who, when they leave us at 18, will be equipped to take up the challenges of the 21st century.
Location
Farringtons occupies 25 acres of parkland in picturesque Kent, yet it is only 12 miles from central London. Chislehurst is five minutes from the M25, 45 minutes from Gatwick Airport, 1.5 hours from Heathrow International Airport and 20 minutes by train from Charing Cross and Waterloo stations.
Academic Achievement
With most pupils proceeding to higher education, academic standards are high; each pupil is encouraged to strive to reach his or her full potential. Our academic success is due to small classes, dedicated staff and supportive teaching, which ensures each pupil receives the individual attention needed. Academic achievement, as well as the all-round development of the individual, is of prime importance at Farringtons.
Sixth Form
The Sixth Form should be a bridge between school and university, and our Sixth Form leavers regularly go on to degree courses in their chosen subjects, including medicine, law and engineering, as well as courses at prestigious universities.
There is a wide choice of A Level subjects on offer, and staff are always on hand to offer advice on the correct combination of subjects to suit the aspirations and abilities of each student.
Sixth Formers are given a greater degree of freedom than pupils in other years and are encouraged to take a responsible and independent approach to their studies, albeit with the guidance and help of their tutor.
Boarding
At Farringtons we provide happy, warm and friendly surroundings for our boarders, and different living areas for each age group.
When parents are unable to be nearby, we know we must create and maintain a homely and secure living environment in which the pupils feel safe, confident and cared for, whatever their age. Boarders are cared for by house staff, who liaise with parents, guardians, form tutors and other staff to ensure the wellbeing of each student.
Weekly boarding provides a happy solution for those parents who wish to prioritise schoolwork and activities during the week. It also enables attendance for those whose daily travel is difficult and ad hoc. Boarding is also available for pupils who need to board for short periods when parents are away.
A debating society, football club, tae kwon do, a maths club and maths clinic, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, a textiles club, drama club, jazz dance, Business Enterprise, trampolining, a choir, concert band and an orchestra are just some of the many interests available to pupils at lunch times and after school.
At weekends there are regular sporting fixtures and also supervised outings to the theatre, cinema, ice rink, shopping centre, museums, roller skating rink, waxworks and local places of interest, as well as to London, of course, which remains a firm favourite.
