Haberdashers' Girls' School is a leading independent day girls' school for students aged 4 to 18. Situated in an idyllic 100-acre co-educational campus in Hertfordshire, Habs Girls shares its wonderful location with its sibling school, Haberdashers' Boys' School. Since September 2023, Habs Girls and Habs Boys have taught A Levels in co-educational classes, with students sitting a minimum of one A Level in mixed gender classes across at the other school.

At Habs Girls, our academic performance speaks for itself. At GCSE 43% of the grades awarded were 9 with 89% awarded 9 to 7 and at A Level 36% of the school grades awarded were A* and 76% A* to A.

Whilst outstanding outcomes remain a priority at Habs, great exam results are just one part of the educational journey at Habs and is not possible without the other academic and extensive co-curricular opportunities on the campus, creating relevant life skills and character development opportunities for all our students. We encourage all our students to make full use of the incredible campus, exploring their individual interests and passions, in and beyond the classroom.

As a school, our purpose is to empower our young people to make a profound and positive impact in the world. This requires personal adaptability and resilience, curiosity, genuine empathy and a sense of responsibility for people and the world around them. We are a diverse community with a strong global perspective. Our roots are firmly in our philanthropic founding principles and this guides our deep sense of responsibility in the world. This environment, combined with our innovative teaching approach, prepares our students to better navigate a rapidly evolving world.

Admissions

We offer places to bright and ambitious students who are courageous and curious in all aspects of life. At 4+ pupils are invited to the school and will participate in a series of activities. Some will then be invited back for a second stage. Our 7+, 11+ and 16+ process involves one or multiple entrance assessments and an invitational second round interview. We also offer Occasional Places as spaces become available in Year 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10. The availability of these places are confirmed in February; full details can be found on our website. Those pupils already in our Junior School are offered unconditional places as they move up from Year 6 to Year 7 in the Senior School.

Bursaries

At Habs, we are working to ensure every curious and ambitious child can access a Habs education. Our bursaries are means-tested and determined by a family's financial situation. The assistance provided can range from partial to full bursaries, with approximately 10% of our students currently receiving a free school place.

Scholarships

We offer a variety of different scholarships at the school from 11+. Academic, Art, Creative Writing, Drama, Music and Sport scholarships are available across our different entry levels and can offer 10-20% fee remission.
