Founded in 1981, Leicester Grammar School is one of the UK's top-performing co-educational HMC independent schools for pupils aged 10-18. The School has gone from strength to strength and is now based in Great Glen, South Leicestershire. The purpose-built 75 acre campus boasting state-of-the-art facilities was opened in 2008 by HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Today it is one of the leading co-educational independent schools in the country, providing an exciting and inspiring all-round education for pupils aged 10-18.
Our ethos combines the best of traditional values and academic study with a forward-looking and ambitious preparation for a life of success and happiness in a rapidly changing world. High expectations are complemented by rich and varied co-curricular opportunities, and all our endeavours are underpinned by a strong sense of diverse and mutually supportive community. Our pupils achieve great things, leaving us as fulfilled and generous young adults, with a natural self-confidence which enables them to make a powerful difference to society.

The inspectors found that:
Inspectors also found the school to be fully compliant with the Independent School Standards Regulations, many of which govern pupils' welfare, health and safety. This very pleasing inspection report came on the back of the Senior School's award of Sunday Times East Midlands Independent Secondary School of the Year 2020.
LGS pupils consistently gain excellent examination results at GCSE and A Level as well as enjoying wide ranging co-curricular activities in a nurturing and caring environment. LGS fees are extremely competitive and we offer a range of scholarships and bursaries. We offer a wide range of activities to enrich the daily curriculum. Our pupils may choose to become involved in drama and musical productions, sporting pursuits or develop a flair for debating; they may attend an academic society or join Space Club!
