Founded in 1827, Loretto is Scotland's oldest boarding school, combining history and tradition with incredible opportunities for the modern world. A leading independent co-educational school for boarding and day pupils, 99% of Loretto leavers go on to their destination of choice.
From day one, Loretto's founder was dedicated to blending academic excellence with a wealth of experiences beyond the classroom, ensuring each pupil develops holistically in mind, body, and spirit.
To this day, the school provides a diverse yet rigorous curriculum, combined with an exceptional range of co-curricular activities, which ensures that each pupil is encouraged to grow and develop their own unique interests and talents. This is evidenced by the achievements of Loretto pupils academically and across the board, in music, art and drama, along with the school's strong reputation in sporting endeavours - both in major team sports and other sports.
Community is at the heart of Loretto. Relationships between pupils and staff are marked by kindness, care, and respect - creating a truly special environment that provides pupils with confidence and know-how to thrive that lasts a lifetime. Outstanding pastoral care and a tutor system ensures that each child is known and nurtured, fostering a sense of belonging.
Loretto is dedicated to creating exceptional lives, and over the years, many notable individuals from across the globe have begun their lives at Loretto. Your child could be next.
With its superb location on Scotland's Golf Coast and world-class Golf Academy, Loretto also has a strong tradition of top-level golf. Directed by a team of top-class PGA Professional coaches, Loretto golfers have access to state-of-the-art practice centres, including a nine-hole artificial putting green, several driving bays, bunker and chipping areas, and a putting studio with video analysis and Trackman. Pupils can test their skills on magnificent links courses, with many in close proximity to the school.
Like the school itself, Loretto Open Days are kept purposefully small. The admissions team would love to invite you to experience the exceptional campus and community for yourself so that you can fully understand what makes Loretto so unique. Book in for a relaxed visit, chatting with the senior team and teaching staff, followed by a guided tour of the campus, designed with your child's interests and future in mind.
Your first step is to contact admissions@loretto.com or 0131 653 4455. You will soon see why pupils and staff are so proud to call themselves Lorettonians.
