Maida Vale School is a co-educational, independent senior school for children aged 11-18 located in the borough of Westminster with nearby transport links at Queen's Park and Maida Vale. Part of the family-owned Gardener Schools Group which includes Ravenscourt Park Prep School, Kew Green Prep School and Kew House School. Together they share knowledge, resources, contacts and a passion for education.
Maida Vale School is a warm and supportive community that combines innovative teaching with state-of-the-art-facilities. They are ambitions for their students but are a greenhouse not a hothouse; believing children fulfil their potential, personally and academically, when nurtured and inspired. They operate an 'Open Door' policy believing a child's education is a shared responsibility, one that works best when all parties are engaged - school, parents and the students themselves.
Entry is at Y7 or Y11 with other places occasionally available. Admission is based on exams and interviews. MVS selects interesting, able and engaging students who will work together as a team supporting and inspiring one another. Their innovative timetable, 90minute lessons and three-year GCSE courses, facilitates deeper subject knowledge which is further underpinned by an impressive enrichment programme.
Smaller class sizes and unique pastoral care system means every child is known individually. Students are assigned a Personal Tutor on arrival who remains their mentor, sounding board and guide throughout their time at Maida Vale School, forming the backbone of support for both learning and personal development.
The impressive Victorian building, covering over 62,000 square feet, underwent a complete renovation in 2019. The school lacks for nothing when it comes to educating today's children. The creative arts' classrooms are located on top floor and are flooded with light from large Victorian windows with views across London. Each STEM subject has its own specialised laboratory while Design Technology is taught in a professional workshop adjacent to Computer Science and CAD Laboratories, so students learn how to turn an idea into an object.
