Our Approach

At Maltman's Green, we believe in the pursuit of excellence, empowering our pupils to make their way in the world. We offer an ambitious and dynamic curriculum, extensive extra-curricular opportunities, and a nurturing environment supported by dedicated staff. At Maltman's, pupils are encouraged to get stuck in and have a go at everything, excelling across all areas, including traditionally male-dominated subjects like Maths and STEAM. By fostering a culture of curiosity and resilience, we ensure our girls leave with a genuine love for these subjects, equipped with the confidence and self-belief to embrace any challenge the future holds.

We place the emotional, social, and physical wellbeing of our pupils at the heart of everything we do. By offering a personalised learning experience in a supportive and encouraging environment, we ensure that every girl feels valued, confident, and happy - a strong foundation from which they can make the most of every opportunity.

Games and The Arts

At Maltman's Green, pupils are continually making new friends, discovering new passions, and creating lasting memories through our exceptional sports and arts programmes. Our sports provision is a standout feature, with dedicated facilities, daily lessons and over 120 extra-curricular clubs running each week. All pupils participate in friendly tournaments within houses and year groups, and those with talent and dedication can progress to squad level to compete locally, regionally or nationally. Our gymnastics squad, in particular, has achieved outstanding results on the national stage.

Music is integral to life at Maltman's Green. With specialist teaching, excellent facilities and a wide range of opportunities, our pupils are given the chance to make their own musical discoveries and showcase their talents. Many participate in choirs, instrumental lessons and ensemble groups. Drama and dance plays an equally important role, with regular performances and workshops helping to build confidence and creative expression. Our dedicated performing arts centre, complete with professional staging, lighting and a specialist dance studio, ensures that pupils make a lasting impression in every performance.

Achievements

At Maltman's Green, our girls are encouraged to be independent thinkers and to challenge themselves. Our firm foundation prepares them to face senior school and beyond with determination, confidence and a lifelong love of learning. This is reflected in our outstanding Bucks Secondary Transfer Test (11+) results, with an 81% qualification rate for 2024, and 19 scholarships awarded to Independent Senior Schools. These achievements, along with our pupils' success across sport, music, and drama, affirm our position as one of the leading prep schools in the country.

We are proud to have been shortlisted for the Independent Prep School of the Year award in both 2023 and 2024. In addition, our NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education) accreditation and Challenge Award recognise the exceptional provision we offer for more able learners, demonstrating how we are making excellence the standard in every aspect of school life.

Outstanding Characteristics

Our rigorous approach and excellent teaching were highlighted by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) during their February 2022 inspection, where Maltman's Green was awarded "excellent" in all areas. "The quality of the pupils' academic and other achievements is excellent. Pupils' linguistic and mathematical skills are outstanding. Pupils demonstrate excellent attitudes to learning, readily think for themselves, and acquire higher-order thinking skills which they instinctively apply across all areas of learning."
