Moulsford is a thriving, independent day and boarding school of 370 pupils age 3-13 near Wallingford in South Oxfordshire, set in picturesque grounds on the banks of the River Thames. Our co-educational Pre-Prep runs from Pre-School to Year 2 and is housed in a purpose-designed new building. The Prep School (Years 3 - 8) delivers an outstanding all-boys education.
Moulsford's curriculum prepares pupils for senior schools, but also ensures they have the skills for life beyond. Striving for excellent academic achievement, with foundations laid in the Pre-School to promote curiosity and a love of learning, the school's down-to-earth, family-focussed approach embraces the fact that children of this age should be having fun at the same time as learning. All are encouraged to live through the school's values of Kindness, Courage and Curiosity.
Moulsford's comprehensive extra-curricular programme includes many and varied opportunities for the pupils to try out new activities and discover and develop their own individual abilities and talents outside of the classroom. Pupils can try bike maintenance, cookery, photography, climbing, drama, chess, parkour, and many more activities in pursuit of the Moulsford Award.
Moulsford's reputation for sport remains extremely strong with all boys from Year 3 in teams A to F regularly playing competitive matches. Major sports are football, rugby, hockey, cricket and athletics. Minor sports have also seen significant successes in golf, skiing, fencing and judo. Music and drama remain popular with roughly three quarters of the children from Years 3-8 playing an instrument.
The Moulsford Pre-Prep prepares girls for their move to 'onward' schools in Year 3, while boys make their transition into the Prep School. In Year 8, boys progress to the UK's leading independent day and boarding schools at 13+ including Abingdon, Eton, Harrow, Magdalen College School, Marlborough, Radley, St Edward's Oxford, and Wellington.
The riverside setting provides a different dimension to prep school life with kayaks, canoes and stand up paddleboards all put to use. At Forest School there are opportunities for fire building, whittling and making bows and arrows.
Our aim is to ensure that every child is listened to, supported, encouraged and given the opportunity to flourish.
