Nestled in the picturesque village of Tockington, just north of Bristol, Tockington Manor School and Nursery is an independent preparatory school catering to boys and girls aged 2 to 13. Start a journey with us

This journey of discovery begins in our Nursery, where the adventure into learning is as expansive outdoors as it is within classroom walls (wellies are near part of our uniform!). Our curriculum is rich and varied, designed to ignite a lifelong passion for subjects like Science, Maths, English and French, alongside more 'fun' lessons in Art, Music and Computing. It works - but while we are proud of our academic successes, we also celebrate personal achievements and the pursuit of one's best. This fosters a culture where every child can experience the joy of accomplishment - an ethos that extends beyond the classroom to the sports fields and the stage, where every child has a platform to shine.

Moving on from Tockington

In the past two years, children leaving Tockington at the end of Year 8 have gone to fourteen different schools, 80% of them armed with Scholarships. This is a testament to how well our approach to learning works. Our Pathway Programme for Year 7 and 8s, introduced in 2022, offers children specialist tuition and unique experiences as they prepare for Senior School. They are guided towards the right school for them, rather than any which offers a place. We have an enviable 100% success rate of children being offered their first choice Senior School.

Being part of the TMS community

We are one of the largest employers in the area with a healthy staff retention that speaks to the TMS family ethos. As part of our commitment to our community, we raise money each year for a specific charity. Last year, we donated over £4000 to The Julian Trust, which looks after homeless people in Bristol. This year we handed over a similar amount to the Catalyst Foundation for their S.H.E. Programme, which is dedicated to empowering vulnerable girls in marginalised rural communities across Africa through education.

The school is growing and its confident future has been strengthened even further, as Tockington became a member of the Clifton College Education Group in November 2023. This will allow the school to expand further, enhancing its facilities and offering more opportunities to its pupils whilst still allowing them to have freedom of choice in their onward journey.
