Whitgift is one of Britain's finest independent day and boarding schools, offering a friendly, vibrant and inclusive environment for 10-18-year-old boys. Our core purpose is to educate bright and talented young men to become independent learners and thinkers, to achieve beyond what they believed they could, and to leave the school ready to give back to the society in which they will be leaders.

The school offers a variety of pathways to qualifications, including A Levels and the International Baccalaureate, and consistently ranks as a top 20 world IB school. Alongside exceptional academic standards, the co-curricular activities feature more than 100 clubs & societies, more than 40 sports and an active Outdoor Education programme that takes students worldwide. A packed Performing Arts programme performs regularly, staging first-class musicals and plays. Orchestras and choirs play at major venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall and locally the Fairfield Halls.

The school's Boarding House, which opened in 2013, is superbly-equipped and offers full, weekly and flexi-boarding to boys aged 13-18. This option allows students to make the most of their time at Whitgift without distractions or a lengthy commute. Structured homework and free time sessions, as well as organised evening and weekend activities, ensure that boarders build a strong balance between their academic studies and their co-curricular interests. For those who live further afield, there are 13 dedicated bus routes covering routes across London, Surrey, Kent and Sussex.

Whitgift takes pride in being a diverse student body and global citizenship and digital literacy are key areas of focus for the entire school community. Pastoral support is the foundation of our provision, with each pupil and his parents guaranteed a friendly face to turn to for advice and guidance. The latest ISI Report states, "The quality of pastoral care is outstanding… a calm courteous approach pervades the school, indicated by highly civilised and positive relationships between staff and pupils."

In 2020 Whitgift was awarded the title of Independent Boys’ School of the Year and the judges said it was "a compelling entry that radiated the school’s inclusive and collaborative values in the context of an all-boys school." In 2022, Whitgift was announced as Independent School of the Year for Community Outreach by Independent School Parent for our work with Primary age children throughout the academic year and during Summer School.
