Woodhouse Grove School – Unlock Their Potential

Woodhouse Grove School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school in the heart of Yorkshire, offering a seamless education for children aged 2–18. Boarding begins in Year 7, and our prep school, Brontë House, provides the perfect environment for younger pupils to flourish.

Set in beautiful grounds, Brontë House offers excellent facilities for science, sport, music and technology. Nursery pupils benefit from a woodland play area, and pupils at Brontë House have access to the senior school's outstanding amenities, including a 220-seater theatre, artificial pitches and a 25m indoor competition pool.

Brontë House focuses on the holistic development of children. As quoted in our latest ISI inspection 2024: 'Children develop strong communication and language skills. They are supported by staff so that they grow intellectually and emotionally whilst also developing their creative, social and physical skills.'

Small class sizes allow teachers to tailor learning to individual needs, while co-curricular activities, wrap-around care, and swimming lessons from Reception are all included in the fees. For busy families, we offer both term-time and 51-week contracts for Nursery-age pupils.

Parents praise the nurturing environment: 'The best thing about Brontë House is how happy it makes my child. Seeing her positive, supported, and safe is invaluable.'

Sport is a vital part of life at Brontë House, fostering teamwork, leadership, and resilience. Specialist staff create an inclusive yet challenging programme that makes fitness fun. Performing arts also plays a key role, building confidence and creativity through opportunities to learn instruments and participate in performances led by our director of performing arts.

Our Grovian values – confidence, commitment, resilience and respect – are nurtured from Nursery through to Sixth Form, preparing pupils for every stage of life. Alumni, or 'Old Grovians', form a strong network across diverse fields, from the Red Arrows to the West End.

With a combination of academic excellence and co-curricular opportunities, Woodhouse Grove prepares well-rounded, entrepreneurial young people fully prepared for life in a modern world. Learn more at www.woodhousegrove.co.uk.
